Admission of New Partners
Four New Partners have been admitted into the East Africa Partnership, with effect from 1 September 2007.

Philip Muema has been admitted as a Tax Partner. He is a qualified accountant and a member of The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from the USIU – Africa. Prior to this appointment, Philip was a Senior Tax Manager and has over 9 years experience in providing tax services to KPMG’s wide range of local and multinational clientele. His areas of specialization include assisting clients in setting up operations in Kenya, group tax rationalization, international tax structuring and tax optimization reviews, tax efficient corporate restructuring and re-organizations, Mergers and Acquisitions, Transfer Pricing reviews for cross border transactions and employee compensation structuring. |

Benson Ndung’u has been admitted as an Audit Partner and will be responsible for the KPMG Uganda practice. Benson is a qualified accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and Kenya. He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi. Prior to this appointment, Benson was the resident Director at KPMG Uganda, and has over thirteen years audit and advisory experience, all gained at KPMG. Benson has considerable experience working with multi-national and local clients in the region while providing audit accounting and other advisory services. |

David Leahy has been appointed as a Partner in the Advisory Services with particular responsibility for Internal Audit Services. David is a Canadian Chartered Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor. He is also an accredited quality assurance assessor with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) as well as being a charter member of the IIA in Qatar and Tanzania. David joined KPMG from Qatar Petroleum and has over thirteen years of experience in the auditing and accounting profession. David will lead the KPMG’s Internal Audit Services with particular focus on Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Internal Audit outsourcing. |

Jacob Gathecha has been admitted as an Audit Partner in the KPMG Kenya practice with particular responsibility for Financial Services and Consumer and Industrial Markets. Jacob is a qualified accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. Prior to this appointment, Jacob was Senior Audit Manager in the KPMG Kenya practice, and has over thirteen years post qualification audit and advisory experience, all gained at KPMG. Jacob has considerable experience working with multi-national and local clients in the region while providing audit, accounting and other advisory services. |
